St. Sebastian

Sebastian died in 288AD, an early Christian martyr. According to tradition, he died during the persecution of Christians lead by Roman emperor Diocletian. In art, he is depicted being tied to a tree and shot with arrows. However, according to legend he was rescued and healed by Irene of Rome. After being healed, he returned to Diocletian to warn him of his sins, which resulted in Sebastian being clubbed to death.

He is the patron of athletes, archers and holy Christian death.
